Sudan Floods (2022)

Flooding occurs every year in Sudan. Apart from destroying buildings, crops, and land - which can force people to leave their homes and seek refuge elsewhere, the swollen rivers and pools of standing water increase the risk of water-borne disease such as cholera, acute watery diarrhoea, and malaria.

The Government of Sudan leads and coordinates the emergency response to the floods. The body responsible is the National Flood Mission Forces of the Humanitarian Aid Committee (HAC). The humanitarian community supports the HAC and the flood response through the sector system. This page pulls together the latest information on the situation, relevant humanitarian contacts, the emergency response plan and information about the ongoing response.
