Area-Based Coordination (ABC) in Somalia

Area-Based Coordination (ABC) in Somalia

Area-Based Coordination (ABC) is a light, operational coordination approach at sub-national level that brings partners together to deliver multi-sectoral, people-centered responses in specific geographic areas. It complements cluster coordination by focusing on localized needs, risks, and service delivery.

In Somalia, ABC aims to:

  • Strengthen localized coordination at district and community levels
  • Support joint needs analysis and response planning
  • Improve multi-sectoral response and service integration
  • Ensure community engagement and accountability to affected people
  • Facilitate two-way information flow between field and national coordination

ABC structures work closely with clusters and inter-cluster coordination to ensure alignment with national strategies while enabling flexible, context-specific responses.
