FSAC

About

The Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC) supports the humanitarian community to ensure that appropriate and critical food security and agriculture-based livelihood assistance gets to where it is needed. FSAC forms part in the cluster system under the Humanitarian Country Team in the Philippines.

Who we are

The FSAC is currently composed of 25 member organizations from the international and national humanitarian and development field with presence in the country. The FSAC serves as a collective representation which advocates for food security and agriculture-based initiatives in critical discussions with the Humanitarian Coordinator and the Humanitarian Country Team.

What we do

Mainly, the FSAC supports interventions which strengthens the four pillars of food security—availability, access, utilization, and stability. It provides a platform for the humanitarian and development partners in the country in delivering a coordinated emergency response and early recovery assistance through food and cash assistance and livelihood interventions to support food security of crisis-affected populations. Further, it also contributes to disaster prevention and risk-reduction activities.

How we work

The FSAC closely coordinates with the national and local authorities, institutions, civil society organizations, and other community stakeholders in delivering humanitarian response and early recovery activities. To remain abreast on the current challenges and issues, the FSAC conducts regular discussions on relevant policies, programs, and projects related to food security, agriculture, and livelihood. Member organizations are upheld to their commitment in actively supporting cluster engagements and activities such as strategic and contingency planning.

Where we are headed

With a more dynamic support and participation, FSAC is seen as an effective platform for encouraging and consolidating humanitarian and development efforts aimed at improving food security, nutrition, sustainable livelihoods towards building resilient communities in the country.
