Qué es GRIN-LAC?

GRIN-LAC, el Grupo de Resiliencia Integral de Nutrición, es un grupo regional de apoyo a la preparación y respuesta en nutrición en situaciones de emergencias en América Latina y el Caribe coordinada por La Oficina Regional de UNICEF para América Latina y el Caribe. Es una red de actores regionales y nacionales relacionados con la nutrición, la reducción de riesgo de desastres y/ el manejo de emergencias que incluye agencias de las Naciones Unidas (PMA, OPS/OMS, OCHA, FAO), la Federación Internacional de la Cruz Roja, ONGs (Save the Children, Plan Internacional), y agencias de cooperación (AECID, ECHO), entre otros actores. 

El objetivo principal del grupo es mejorar el entendimiento de los problemas relacionados con la nutrición en situaciones de emergencias, las acciones clave de preparación y respuesta en nutrición y su importancia, y apoyar el fortalecimiento de capacidades en preparación y respuesta en nutrición en casos de emergencia a nivel nacional.

What is GRIN-LAC?

GRIN-LAC, the Regional Group for Integrated Nutrition Resilience, is a regional group that supports the strengthening of national capacities for emergency preparedness and response in Latin America and the Caribbean coordinated by UNICEF Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.  It is a network of regional and national key players in nutrition, disaster risk reduction and/or emergency management that includes UN agencies (WFP, PAHO/WHO, OCHA, FAO), the International Federation of Red Cross, NGOs (Save the Children, Plan International), and aid agencies (AECID, ECHO) among others.

The main objective of this group is to increase awareness and understanding around issues related to nutrition in emergencies and key actions in emergency nutrition preparedness and response and their importance, and to support the strengthening of national capacities for emergency preparedness and response.
