Gender Based Violence Working Group
Gender Based Violence Area of Responsibility
Gender-based violence is a life-threatening, global health and human rights issue that violates international human rights law and principles of gender equality. It is also a threat to lasting peace and an affront to our common humanity.
All humanitarian actors must be aware of the risks of GBV and acting collectively to ensure a comprehensive response to prevent and mitigate these risks as quickly as possible within their areas of operation.
Failure to take action against GBV represents a failure by humanitarian actors to meet their most basic responsibilities for promoting and protecting the rights of affected populations.
The GBV Working Group ensure coordinated actions in prevention and mitigation of GBV and accountability to beneficiaries.
