INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the Asia-Pacific IASC Regional Network’s Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG) is to provide a forum for humanitarian partners to promote effective emergency response preparedness and increase multistakeholder engagement on issues of humanitarian effectiveness within the Asia-Pacific region.
The objectives of the Working Group are to:
- Share information on upcoming preparedness activities and maintain a calendar of preparedness activities and events (e.g. trainings & simulations) in the region for coordination purposes;
- Build a community of practice for the region by promoting active feedback and sharing of lessons learned from preparedness activities;
- Respond to country-level requests for support on emergency preparedness and simulation exercises as well as regional contributions to contingency planning; and
- Support members to contextualize global policy and guidelines on preparedness initiatives or humanitarian reform for implementation in the region
The EPWG is a technical working group supporting the IASC Regional Network and committed to the six core principles of the IASC. The EPWG works primarily to support activities under the IASC Results Group 1: Operational Response, and the Thematic Issue of Early warning and preparedness.
The EPWG is co-chaired by OCHA, ICVA and IFRC.
